In the land full of full stops and speed breakers - Aayra Chettiar

In The Land Of Full Stops and Speed Breakers

Once upon a time in a faraway land lay two different kingdoms. One kingdom was known as the kingdom of the periods and the other kingdom was known as the kingdom of the speed breakers. Even though the kingdoms were very near they lived quite differently.

The kingdom of the periods was ruled by King Full Stop. He infact was a very good king indeed. In this kingdom everything was in order, every sentence had a purpose and every thought ended precisely where it began. The people of this kingdom were also known as the Full Stopians.

The kingdom of the speed breakers was ruled by Queen Comma. She was very pleased with this. It was a place where there were multiple interruptions and pauses. Some sentences were wrong as they were not completed. The people of this kingdom were often called the Speed Breakerians.

Then one day both the kingdoms became curious about each other’s ways. On that same day a mysterious person known as the Question Mark came, he summoned both the kingdoms to their borders he told them that if you go into each other’s kingdoms it may lead to war. So, he said if you actually want to enter each other’s kingdoms you may have to answer my question and both kingdoms must answer it correctly.

Question: If one jar contains 5 litres and another jar contains 3 litres then how will you make four litres of water in the 5 litre jar? (you have an infinite source of water) I will give you 1 day to get the answer.
So, the kingdoms thought and thought it was finally night time they only had a few hours to go but then they got the answer.

Answer: First you fill up the 5 litre jar and dump 3 litres of that jars water into the 3 litre jar. Since you dumped 3 litres into the other jar just 2 litres are left in the 5 litre jar. Then you dump all the water of the 3 litre jar onto the floor not in the 5 litre jar. Next of all you dump 2 litres of the 5 litre jar into the 3 litre jar. Now the 5 litre jar is empty so you fill the 5 litre jar up and transfer 1 litre from the 5 litre jar into the 3 litre jar which makes the 3 litre jar full. Since you transferred 1 litre into the 3 litre jar from the 5 litre jar there are just 4 litres left in the 5 litre jar.

The next day the Question Mark came back he looked at their answer and said you have found the correct answer. I see you have done a tremendous amount of effort and you are rewarded by getting the permission of going into each other’s kingdoms. Finally, all their curiosity disappeared as they went into each others kingdoms and it was a very happy ending.
